liposuction

“Liposculpture is not a weight loss surgery, it is a surgery for improving shape, ” explains Dr. Castañeda. “People should not consider this as weight control, it should be a kick-start for lifestyle change and healthy living. “

Liposuction (also referred to as Liposculpture and lipoplasty)  is one of the most commonly requested surgical procedures. It can sculpt and develop the shape of the body by removing unwanted fat from the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, upper arms, chin, cheeks and neck.

Today, many different techniques and approaches of Liposuction exist to provide the optimum results for many different patients. (Click here to learn more about the different types of liposuction available). Those who have struggled with diet and exercise can now attain desired results from liposculpture and finally remove their stubborn areas of fat.

However, whatever type of liposuction procedure you and your doctor choose, the question often arises, “Will the fat come back?”

According to a recent article posted by The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, “for years, doctors have noticed that those liposuction patients who consume too many calories and don’t exercise enough usually don’t put on tummy weight after abdominal liposuction but, in a year’s time, store new fat in other bodily areas such as the arms, the back or the breasts.”

In other words, although fat may not come back in the area treated, patients can still increase the overall size of their body without proper diet and exercise.

“Liposculpture is not a weight loss surgery, it is a surgery for improving shape, ” explains Dr. Castañeda, Plastic Surgeon at COSMED Plastic Surgery Center in Mexico. “People should not consider this as weight control, it should be a kick-start for lifestyle change and healthy living. ”
