Weight loss cosmetic surgery covers a variety of procedures including:
- Modified or extended abdominoplasty – aka a “tummy tuck” is major surgery lasting several hours that is designed to remove fat around the abdomen, tighten the abdominal wall muscles; this is a common procedure after surgical weight loss or pregnancy
- Liposuction/Lipoplasty/Suction Lipectomy/Tumescence/Ultrasound-Assisted Lipoplasty (UAL)/Liposculpture – are a variety of techniques designed to remove substantial fat deposits frequently in the abdomen, thighs, upper arms; UAL has shown to dramatically increase spot fat deposit removal with a faster recovery time than some other fat removal procedures; general skin tightening procedures
- Bariatric Procedures/Lap Bands – a drastic procedure recommended for obese to extremely obese patients that have many other medical problems associated with obesity; these procedures restrict the amount of food in-take into the stomach and subsequent nutritional absorption
- Body lifts/body contouring – these are generally designed to either tighten the skin, firm up muscle tone or muscle walls, and to remove excess skin or sagging skin; the most common procedures include arm lifts, inner thigh lift, buttocks lift, full body lift, lower body lift, face lifts
